With the Tetra Test 7in1, you can quickly and reliably check the seven most important water parameters in your aquarium in three simple steps. Dip a test strip into the water, move it back and forth for about two seconds, then tap off the excess water. Read the water parameter results after just one minute.
Using the colour chart on the test strip packaging, you can assess whether the water parameters are within the safe range to maintain a biological balance for fish, plants and microorganisms in your aquarium.
You can find more information on the exact limit values and possible countermeasures in the enclosed instructions.
To ensure the test strips function correctly, do not touch the test fields and do not hold them under running water.
Tetra Test 7in1 now also measures the carbon dioxide (CO2) content in the aquarium water. CO2 is particularly important for the healthy growth of your aquatic plants. In addition, the pH value, total and carbonate hardness (GH + KH), as well as the levels of nitrite (NO2-), nitrate (NO3-) and chlorine (Cl2) in the aquarium water are measured.
Aquarium inhabitants are very sensitive to excessive changes in pH, which affects their well-being. Total hardness impairs the vital functions of the fish, whilst carbonate hardness has a direct influence on the stability of the pH value (pH buffer). To adjust the pH and KH values, Tetra recommends – depending on the specific environmental needs of your fish – Tetra pH/KH plus or Tetra pH/KH Minus.
Tetra Test 7in1 also measures the nitrite and nitrate levels in the aquarium water. Even in very low concentrations, nitrite is extremely harmful to ornamental fish and other aquatic life and should not be detectable in the water.
Nitrate is a nutrient that promotes plant growth. However, excessive concentrations of NO3- can be harmful to fish and encourage excessive algae growth. Chlorine may also be present in the water, as it is often found in tap water. Just like nitrite, chlorine should not be detectable in the aquarium water and should always be treated with Tetra AquaSafe.
